Another film for BBC’s 40 Minute strand.  Prisoner A4731 Perks leaves Cardiff  prison on Wednesday afternoon determined not to get drunk.  Outside the gaol he meets his old partner in crime and the film follows these two men over the next 48 hours.  Francis was accused of setting this up by the Head of BBC 2 but it wasn’t.  1983 (40’)

This 1983 documentary was made for the 40 Minutes slot.  Bernard Perks has a chronic alcohol problem and has spent fifteen of the last twenty years in prison.  The film follows his release from Cardiff prison and his all too rapid return to the bottle.
